The right seed for the right job. A shady back yard to a stormwater runoff swale we can source a seed blend for your needs. We have access to the highest quality turf cultivars and the hardest to find native grass varieties.
That green stuff on the side of the road or a neighbors yard! What is it?? Mulch is manufactured from a few common types of material.
Cellulose fiber mulch (Paper) absorbs water quicker compared to wood fiber, but lacks the water retention other mulches offer. A great choice for flat or mild sloped residential and commercial projects requiring a short term mulch solution.
Wood Fiber Mulch holds more water compared to paper mulches. This mulch works great when mulching rates above 2000lbs per acre are required. A recommended choice when seed species require 21 or more days to germinate.
We use different mulches for different applications, visit our products page for a full list of mulches.
Typically 1/3rd the cost of sod, however the cost depends on the job. The type of grass being planted, location of the job, access to water, and size of the job.
Most turf type grasses germinate between 7 to 14 days, mowing is common in 4 to 6 weeks when conditions are favorable.
Cool season grasses become active when soil temperatures reach 50F. Depending on weather we start seeding residential lawns in mid to late March and end in Mid October. Late April, all of May, Mid June and September are the most favorable times to plant a lawn. Lawns seeded in March and April tend to grow slower but establish quickly once the weather warms up. July and August lawns require more irrigation and supervision. We typically stop seeding turf grass around October 15th depending on weather.
Dormant seeding
Native and Introduced dryland grass species are planted from Late September until it snows or the soil becomes frozen. The winter and spring precipitation will help the grass establish the following season.
Sod
Instant gratification at a price. Most commonly 80%+ Kentucky Bluegrass it can struggle in shade, poor soil, and is labor intensive to install.
Hand Seeding
The most difficult method for establishing a lawn for the average home owner. Nationwide box stores commonly sell discounted seed in misleading packaging that may contain weed seed. A good gust of wind can send your seed bed to your next door neighbors yard. Birds love unprotected seed! Straw cover typically contains weed seed and is a mess to clean up.
